Our Missionaries

Note: FBCSLO supports several other missionaries, but we can't list them online for security purposes. Please be in prayer for our many missionaries around the world!

Sally Weltner

Missionary to the peoples of México
Culicán, Sinaloa

Around this fertile farmland are hundreds of work camps filled with indigenous Mexican Indians. Workers living in sparse conditions, oppressed by superstitions, addictions and other burdens are eager to receive the gospel. For the last twenty years missionaries have been visiting these camps once a year, but I felt called to give them something more. God has led me to mobilize the churches of Culicán to step into the work of discipleship and see many of these eager young believers strengthened in their faith, and many more saved as well.

Tom & Nicole Nelson

UC Davis Navigators

It is a privilege and joy to invest in college aged men and women in Davis. Whether they are Christians or not, our desire is to see our friends’ hearts and minds transformed as they get a bigger picture of who Jesus is. Please pray for our family and for the students with whom we are sharing our lives.

Navigators have invested in student’s lives for over 75 years, coming alongside them one to one to study the Bible, develop a deepening prayer life, and memorize and apply Scripture. An interdenominational, nonprofit organization, The Navigators is dedicated to helping people navigate spiritually, to know Christ and to make Him known as they look to Him and His Word to chart their lives. Our ultimate goal is to equip them to fulfill 2 Timothy 2:2—to teach what they have learned to others. Today, tens of thousands of people worldwide are coming to know and grow in Jesus Christ through the various ministries of The Navigators. Internationally, more than 4,000 Navigator staff of 70 nationalities serve in more than 100 countries.

Jamey & Gretchen Pappas

SLO Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ)

Jamey: My primary role is Missional Team Leader. This is basically the new name for ‘Campus Director,’ which is what my role was called for the past 10 years. This role involves a bunch of different responsibilities, but essentially, my goal is to give overall direction and care for the ministry. Along with Jenn Lamb, we lead and shepherd the staff team through personal discipleship, leading staff meetings and leading development times that help staff grow spiritually and in their ministry skills. Additionally, I meet with some of the staff men for discipleship in an effort to help them grow as followers of Christ and ministers of the gospel.

Gretchen: Because Jamey and I have 2 kids in tons of activities, most of my roles are behind-the-scenes and things I can do at home. I do our family blog and newsletter, the regional moms’ blog, and proofread/edit all kinds of things for different people. I help train interns and new staff. I lead the 5th-year women’s study and teach from time to time at the Well. I help to process summer project, stint, intern and staff applications. I help out with the Swanson Center and do occasional speaking at the weekly meeting, or women’s events, or retreats. Perhaps my favorite job is taking care of one Jamey Pappas and praying for him and for all of the students.
